KC Data Center Successes

MasterCard International Moves From New York to KC

MasterCard International will invest $50 million in a new back-up data center in Kansas City, Mo., creating 30 new jobs. The Kansas City facility was chosen over 18 other locations across the country.

This new backup site will replace MasterCard's current backup site in the suburbs of New York City. The 87,000-sq.-ft. facility will be located at 11530 NW Ambassador in Kansas City, Mo., and is expected to be up and running in 2003.

The Kansas City site will serve a unique co-processing role, meaning that processing will be balanced between two fully functional systems, which allows for redirection of transaction processing should either system experience problems. This allows MasterCard to provide 100% system availability and means that in the event of a disaster at either site, processing is uninterrupted.
